Academy product Jem Karacan has been a first team regular under Brian McDermott, that was until he broke a bone in his hand against Blackpool last weekend. He missed Wednesday nights win over West Brom and will have an extended spell on the sidelines.
He had formed an excellent partnership in the centre of the park with Brynjar Gunnarsson, but now there will be oppurtunities for others like Jay Tabb.
McDermott spoke to the official Reading site about the injury Karacan has picked up, ‘He’s out for a while, he’s had an operation, we wait until the bone mends and we go from there.’

Big blow for Jem, but can’t help but feel he has been slightly off form in recent games anyway. Jay Tabb deserves his chance, lets hope he takes it.
