Reading striker Noel Hunt has said that he wants to earn a new contract at the club, but will not be banging on his managers door to do so.

The 28-year old’s current deal runs out in the summer, but is yet to be offered a new deal by the club. Hunt has certainly done himself no harm in doing so, by scoring two goals in two games for Brian McDermott’s side as they still look for their first Premier League win. Despite no contact over a new deal, Hunt says he will just continue to work hard.

Speaking to Jonny Fordham of the Evening Post, Hunt commented: “I`ll just keep my head down and wait and see. I haven`t even thought about it to be honest. I wanted to get back in the side and prove I can play in this league. I`ve been here a long time. It`s my fifth season and things just get better for me – I love it here.’

‘It`s a great club that is run in the right way and if the chance came, I would love it. It`s down to me and what I do on the pitch now.”
Unfortunately, Hunt was injured for our visit to Liverpool with a calf problem, but the Republic of Ireland international will hope to be ready for Saturday’s crucial home encounter with Martin Jol’s Fulham.
