Hal Robson-Kanu has said he is back to full fitness, after an injury-stricken preseason.

The Welsh international missed the whole of pre season training with an injury and struggled with lack of match fitness in the opening games. However, HRK now feels he is back to full fitness and opened his account for the season against Barnsley on Tuesday, with a superb strike.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Robson-Kanu said: ‘I had an injury in pre-season, but I worked hard and the manager gave me time to get back to full fitness, and now I’m more than ready to put in performances like I have in the last couple of games.’

‘And tonight, as a team, it was important that we took a point away. We got ourselves 1-0 up and tried our best to hold onto it, but conceded near the end. But it was an important goal for me – it’s always nice to get the first one.’

It seems Robson-Kanu has been impressed with his start this season, but I think a few Royals fans would disagree. I think it’s fair to say that HRK set himself a high bar after his form at the end of last season, but he hasn’t hit those heights yet this term.
