Harte praises teams attacking ability

Reading defender Ian Harte has publicly praised the team’s attack and the ability that they have on the break.

The Royals 2-0 victory at Middlesbrough highlighted the team’s ability on the break, with Brian McDermott’s team not seeing a huge amount of the ball during the game. Goals from Noel Hunt and a superb 25-yard free kick from Harte was enough to seal the points.

The 34-year old told the official RFC website: ‘We know we’ve got the best team in the league to counter attack, with Jobi and Jimmy and the pace they’ve got and Robbo up front it’s really affective. Then you’ve got Alfie, Churchy and Hal Robson-Kanu waiting on the bench.’

‘It’s a great away performance, they’re playing at home and they’ve got to come out and try and open us up. We’ve not had too many free-kicks around the edge of the box – at the start of the season we had a few, but I wasn’t in the team then, and thankfully today it went straight into the top corner.’

Harte hasn’t been a regular in the team this season, following competition from new signing Joseph Mills and Andy Griffin capable of playing on the left side. However, Harte’s first goal of the season and some good defensive displays is likely to keep him in the side for next week’s trip to Millwall.
