Reading goalkeeper Ben Hamer is currently in talks with League 1 outfit Charlton over a possible move to The Valley.

The 23-year old is yet to make a first team appearance for the Royals although he did make an appearance in last seasons Carling Cup.

Ben has been shipped out on loan many times in his Reading career, most notably to Brentford, who he won the League 2 golden glove award in 2009 as they were promoted.

Chris Powell’s side surprisingly struggled in League 1 last season, finishing in a disappointing 13th place.

If Hamer does sign for the Addicks, he won’t have to wait long to face his boyhood team as Charlton will line up against Reading on Tuesday 9th August in the first round of the Carling Cup.
