Gunnarsson has been with the Royals since 2005 and was part of the squad which secured promotion, and played, in the Premiership. He had been out of contract, and there was specultion linking him with a move away from the club.
However since Brian McDermott has been in charge, he has been a regular in the squad and is a massive influence on the clubs young players.
He has signed a one year deal in line with the clubs policy of offering players over 30 shorter deals.
