Reading defender Kaspars Gorkss has said he is looking forward to the Christmas period and the upcoming pile of games that come with it for the Royals.

The 30-year old has been a big hit at the Madejski Stadium so far, playing every game for Brian McDermott’s men since signing and forming a fine partnership with Alex Pearce that has strengthened the Royals defence.

The former QPR man told the official RFC site: ”It’s a great time of year, fans can spend some time with the family and we play loads of football! There’s so many games on, for me personally it’s hard to find the time to go back home.’

‘For me it’s the best part of football, playing games, obviously you feel tired in the middle of it but if someone would ask me if I’d prefer to train or play a game then I’d always prefer to play.’

The Christmas/new-year period will see the Royals play three games in one week. Boxing day at home against Brighton, New Years Eve against Ipswich and the day after New Years day in Cardiff.
