Post-match interviews with Nigel Adkins are usually uninspiring, but after an absolute mauling, it has made it even worse.

The Royals boss is coming under some heavy criticism from a majority of fans, with some of the travelling supporters at Birmingham yesterday showing their frustration towards Adkins. Many see the thumping at the hands of Birmingham as the final straw for the gaffer.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Adkins said: ‘It`s a very poor scoreline and obviously very disappointing. We will reflect upon it and sometimes you can say words that are emotional after a game so, we`ll reflect upon it, pick ourselves up and get ready to go again.’

‘Believe you me, I’ve a very proud man and I hate losing. I’m taking the emotion away from maybe saying something I will regret, because I have to pick the guys up and go again. I think I’ve got a proven track record and am becoming better all the time with these experiences.’

The same old stuff from Adkins and it is wearing very thin – you get his time here is running out, is the damage already done in most fans’ eyes? I want to back him, but to lose to any team in that fashion is disgraceful, let alone someone who is close to us in the league.
