Former Royals midfielder retires from football

Former Reading midfielder Emerse Faé has retired from football at the tender age of 28.

The former Ivory Coast international has had problem with the condition ‘Phlebitis’. This is concerned with the forming blood clots in veins, which are located in the legs. Unfortunately, this medical condition, on the doctors orders, has forced him to retire.

Faé was the Royals’ record signing, when he signed for £2.5m in August 2007. However, he only went onto make eight appearances in the Premier League. He was infected with Malaria in that time, which restricted his chances in the first team under Steve Coppell.

The 28-year old then said he would refuse to play for the team again after not deciding to play for the reserves when ordered. He signed on for French side Nice in June 2008 before moving making the move permanent in January 2009.
