Derby are on the lookout for a new manager, but don’t worry, they’re not tracking Jaap Stam, but director of football, Brian Tevreden.

The Dutchman has made a massive impression signing joining the Royals last year, making some superb transfer dealings in the summer and being notorious for his stern negotiations. Although, it is merely speculation at this stage, former Reading Post journalist Charles Watts has said the story is true.

Derby seem ready to appoint former Birmingham manager Gary Rowett, after sacking Steve McClaren yesterday, but it appears they want a director of football to come in also. Tevreden is high on that list, but it has not been confirmed whether the Rams have made an official approach for him.

Tevreden reportedly signed a new deal just before the new year, but nothing was confirmed by the club, despite the local media being confident it was signed until 2019. It has raised some eyebrows to say the least and a few concerns, especially after we lost Nicky Hammond in the summer.

Even if Derby do make an official approach, I really don’t think we have to be concerned about Brian moving on. In all of his media interviews, he emphasises that he wants to build on something here, so with Stam and the team doing so well, I can’t see him throwing that away to go to Derby.
