Despite being dropped for the Blackburn game, Simon Cox was on the scoresheet twice against Rotherham, but wasn’t out to prove a point to the manager.

Nigel Adkins dropped him in the defeat to Blackburn, but after promoting him to the starting line-up again, conjured up two good goals in the 3-1 win. Despite being dropped, the former Nottingham Forest man said he respects the managers decisions and supports him in that.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Coxy said: ‘The manager made the decision on Saturday and I have to respect that. I`ve fully supported every decision he`s made so far. He decided to bring me back in and I`ve gone out there and fired a warning at him of what I can do.’

‘I didn`t see it as having a point to prove. I saw it as doing a job that I was brought here to do. It was nice to get the two goals. The first one was a nice little finish & the second, sometimes you catch them sweet and they go in and other times they go row Z and you look an idiot.”

The same applied to Mackie, but when you get your chance, you are not necessary proving the manager wrong, but proving why you should start most weeks. Both have surely done enough to remain in the team for Saturday against Charlton, let’s hope they carry that form on.
