Clarke set to stay

After an incredible 24 hours at Reading Football Club, Steve Clarke is set to make a U-turn and stay here in Berkshire.

Betting was suspended on Clarke to take over at Fulham, making me think the announcement would come sooner rather than later. But in the last hour, the news is that Clarke now wants to stay.

I’m not so sure this will go down too well with the majority of Reading fans or the Thai Owners.

Firstly, the fans will feel a lack of loyalty from Clarke. Whether the Reading supporters will forgive him or not will depend massively on how the players react on the pitch.

Also, the Thai’s may feel like they’ve been let down by Steve. However, Clarke has decided to stay. At this moment in time, we’re not sure why. But, the fact that betting was suspended on him being their new manager suggests he did want to leave at some point. So, I’m not sure the owners will be too pleased with Clarke at this point.

Clarke and his Reading side are going to have to start winning games and fast if he wants to keep his job here at the Madejski.
