We can panic slightly less now – Steve Clarke has revealed contract talks will start after our semi-final with Arsenal.

A few first team players are still out of contract and haven’t had any discussions about new deals. The most notable players, who fans would probably hope to stay, are Adam Federici, Alex Pearce and skipper Jem Karacan, who all have over 600 Royals appearances between them.

Speaking to the Reading Post on Wednesday, Clarke revealed that: ‘I don`t really want to be talking about contracts before the Arsenal game. We told the players that after the 18th we would start to nail down the contracts of the boys who were out at the end of the season.’

I can see the three players mentioned definitely being offered new deals, the only doubt would be Feders, depending if he has offers elsewhere. Jure Travner, Yakubu and Mikkel Andersen are also out of contract this summer, but are unlikely to have their deals renewed.
