Reading striker Simon Church has said that the result against West Ham on Saturday was the most important thing, despite his two goals on his birthday, helping the Royals to win 3-0.

The 23-year old came off the bench to net a brace. The first a poachers effort after Le Fondre’s flick and the second a neat header after Harte’s inswinging delivery.

Church speaking the official RFC site about his birthday said on the topic of celebrations: ‘No not for me, I’m a very boring guy! I’ll just stay in or maybe we’ll go out for dinner. But that’s about it.’

‘Of course the result is the main thing. We needed that off the loss at Blackpool last week. And it’s really encouraging to see teams like West Ham come here and for us to prduce a result like that.’

The Welsh international’s is now our joint top goalscorer this season alongside Adam Le Fondre, with both strikers scoring five goals so far. Church also remains our only player to score in the first half this season, with the goal coming at Coventry.
