The ground staff at Ashton Gate have had the covers on the pitch since yesterday afternoon so were well prepared for the freezing conditions overnight.

Whilst there has so far been no snow in Bristol, the temperatures have plummeted and the covers are on to protect the pitch from freezing with it expected to be around -5 degrees on Friday night.

Bristol City’s head groundsman Craig Richardson told www.bcfc.co.uk, The forecast showed -3 degrees last night, and -4 tonight, thats with a wind chill of -7 last night and -8 tonight. We feel were well protected from having the covers in place early and keeping them there until tomorrow, so I’m sure it will be fine.
