Reading defender Michael Hector is set to be awarded with a new deal by Brian McDermott, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year old has just returned from a very successful loan spell with League Two outfit Barnet, with his performances at Underhill persuading McDermott enough to offer him a new deal. Hector’s current contract was due to run out this summer but was being considered by Championship clubs West Ham, Derby and Crystal Palace.

The former Millwall trainee joined the Royals in 2009 from non-league football and has been shipped out to many teams on loan in the past few years, but finally seems to be on the fringes of the Reading first team. We spoke to Adam Newson of the Barnet and Hendon Times last week and here his comments can be found.
