Reading defender Marcus Williams has completed a free transfer to League One side Sheffield United on a free transfer, according to SkySports.com.

The left back didn’t endure the best of times at the Madejski Stadium, making just 3 appearances in over a year. He was also shipped out loan three times in that period but enjoyed his most successful time with the Blades.

Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson was keen to keep the 25-year old after some good defensive performances at Bramall Lane. Williams has made 14 appearances in total for the Blades.

The Doncaster-born defender enjoyed his best spell with boyhood team Scunthorpe United, where he made 166 appearances before signing on a free transfer for the Royals in the summer of 2010.
