I know we’ve started the season very brightly and look very strong. I feel we could easily push for promotion with this new look squad and Clarke as our manager.

But, believe it or not, this time last season, we actually had more point. It is very hard to believe given the comparison of the two squads but it is the case.

We had subs of Andersen, Long and Pogrebnyak with the likes of Jake Taylor and Hope Akpan starting. Compare that to now, we’ve got Vydra, Blackman on fire, Quinn all starting with the likes of John, Piazon and Hurtado on the bench. On paper, there’s no doubt our squad is a lot better now, however, there’s still a long way to go until we get too excited about where this season may take us.

Up next, we have Burnley and then Boro, these are two big tests that and it’s in these games we need to prove how good we really are and how we will be promotion contenders. I’m not saying they will make or break our season but if we do happen to beat them both it will be a huge statement of intent. If we happen to lose them then our fans may have doubts over our high expectations.

A big couple of weeks coming up.
