Reading are preparing themselves for another bid for Nicky Shorey from West Ham, according to newspaper reports anyway.

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley has been chasing the England international all summer, and after previously seeing a bid rejected, so they say, the Londoners are set to return with a £5million offer.

They are keen to tie up a move before Friday, but Steve Coppell is reluctant to let him go, and with two years left on his contract is under no immediate pressure to sell to avoid another Steve Sidwell scenario.

There is no reason for Shorey to leave is there, he has proven he can play for England at Reading. What can West Ham offer that Reading can’t?

A promising future in the Premier League and Europe.

Well said chadwell, couldn’t have put it better myself.

Strange that Reading finished higher last season and seemingly have a much more organised side. I think he would be daft to depart for the Hammered.

I think you are right, what can they offer that Reading can’t? Apart from a load of cash.
