Sheffield Wednesday are set to state their intent to sign Reading winger Michail Antonio.

The 22-year old spent five months on loan with the Owls last season, providing some fantastic displays to help Dave Jones’ side to automatic promotion to the Championship. This has alerted Jones to try and capture Antonio on a permanent deal. A bid of £350,000 was offered in May but the Royals rejected their approach, wanting double that.

However, reports have stated that Sheffield Wednesday have now matched that bid of £700,000 and are poised to sign the former Tooting & Mitcham player before their pre season tour of Portugal next week. Antonio has never really established a starting place at the Madejski Stadium, being pushed further down the pecking order with the signing of Garath McCleary.

However, do any Reading fans feel he has a future at the club and a point to prove?

He very much divided opinion when he started for us. Had the pace and acceleration but didn’t seen to have the end product but there was no doubt he was improving rapidly. Would have preferred a loan move to see if he could crack it in the Championship.
