With Brighton in action on Friday a chance to take a joint share of the Championship lead presents itself. Albion – should Derby be overcome – would remain behind Newcastle on goal difference. The Rams quite simply must win at the Amex Stadium or their slim play-off hopes are over.

Newcastle will look to restore the advantage they have – or extend the lead if Brighton fail to win – when play-off chasing Fulham visit. The Cottagers are six unbeaten ahead of this game at St James’ Park are currently five points off the top six but have a game in hand too.

Aston Villa’s three game winning run was ended in midweek so Villa will look to react to that against Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls visit Villa Park in the final play-off place and currently with a five point cushion over Fulham.

Three defeats in four for Barnsley – without a win in any – has seen the Tykes’ play-off bid end but a midtable finish would have been taken back in August. Ipswich are unbeaten in seven heading to Oakwell but six have been draw including the last five for the Tractor Boys.

A four game unbeaten run – with three won – has taken Brentford towards the top 10. Promotion chasing Huddersfield will be the next opponent with Town – currently six points off the automatic promotion places in third – heading to Griffin Park.

Relegation rivals Burton and Nottingham Forest meet at the Pirelli Stadium with three big points up for grabs. A Brewers win – three points clear of the bottom three – would take them above Forest.

Cardiff should be safe from relegation trouble but the Bluebirds are without a win in three ahead of the visit from struggling Birmingham. Five defeats in six has seen the Blues slip to within eight points of the bottom three with the form shown very much relegation form!

A play-off place is all but assured for Leeds whatever the outcome of the game with in-form QPR. The R’s head to Elland Road having won four of the last five to move clear of relegation trouble.

Five without a win has virtually ended Norwich’s play-off hopes but a victory against relegation threatened Blackburn could revive outside hopes. Rovers’ four game run – under new boss Paul Mowbray – without defeat has taken them out of the bottom three with them currently two points clear of danger.

Preston’s play-off hopes are slim but a North End win against Reading would keep them in the hunt. The Royals are well set to finish in the top six though with it still a possibility – albeit unlikely – they could finish in the top two.

The DW Stadium will be the setting for a game that could determine one of the sides that join Rotherham in being relegation. However, as things stand both Wigan and Bristol City are going down. The victor – if we see a winner – could well move out of the bottom three.

Wolves could end the day in the bottom three if a victory over rock bottom Rotherham – who have lost nine of the last 10 and are 19 points from safety – isn’t secured at Molineux. Five defeats in six is very much relegation form.

It goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result. But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough.

Ahead of the game we’re looking for your views on what way you think it will go, which requires you to vote in the latest poll in one of the options you have been given.

However, don’t just look also have a say. We don’t just want your vote, which you can do to the right, we also want some thoughts and views ahead of the game as well so share these below.
