After a three-week break for Brian McDermott’s side, Reading return to Premier League action against a strong Tottenham outfit. However, both sides are both looking for their first three points of the season.

Vital Quotes:

Reading boss Brian McDermott – ‘We`re ready to get going now. We`re playing at home and our home record is very, very good. I watched Spurs play against Norwich, but I think the make-up of the team could be different because of the players they`ve brought in. We want to be an exciting team to watch, and anyone that watched us at Chelsea would say that we played really, really good football.’

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas – ‘We had an improvement from Newcastle to West Brom, but the team didn’t feel as comfortable against Norwich. First we want to put it right, and show the level of style and play we had against Newcastle and West Brom, with good possession, attacking football and creating more than our opponents. This is the style we want to take to Reading.

Reading Team News:

Reading should have goalkeeper Adam Federici available for this game, after the 27-year old pulled out of the Australia squad last week. Winger Jimmy Kebe has returned to training this week, but is unlikely to play a part. Striker Jason Roberts is still out injured.

Player to watch: Alex Pearce

The defender received his first Republic of Ireland cap during midweek and is still on top form in a Royals shirt. Is likely to have a busy afternoon with the likes of Defoe, Bale, Sig and Dembele to contend with,

Tottenham Team News:

Andre Villas-Boas has no new injury problems as he approaches this game, but the main question is who he plays in goal. He is likely to stick with veteran Brad Freidel, but new signing Hugo Lloris is unlikely to agree with this call.

Player to watch: Gylfi Sigurdsson

The former Reading forward is yet to make a lasting impact on the Spurs faithful yet, but will keen to make that sooner rather than later. Was one of the Royals’ greatest ever players and will get a superb reception.

Expected line-ups:

Reading: Federici, Gunter, Pearce, Gorkss, Harte, Karacan, Leigertwood, McCleary, Guthrie, McAnuff, Pogrebnyak

Tottenham: Freidel, Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Sandro, Sandro, Dembele, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Bale, Adebayor

Match Prediction:

Tottenham have superb attacking options and could dominate most periods of the game. However, on the break we can be a force to be reckoned with. 1-1 draw.

Next Fixtures:

Reading: West Brom (A) – Sat 22nd September – Premier League

Tottenham: QPR (H) – Sun 23rd September – Premier League

I really fancy our chances if we have somehow managed to clone sandro and we can play him in a 12… 🙂 I think yopu might have got our line up spot on, though it wouldnt surprise me to see Defoe start and Adebayor on the bench. much will depend on how fresh Jermain is and Adebayors fitness
