Reading might be trapped in the bottom three at the moment but Steve Coppell is insistent on the fact that it is too early to worry about the current plight after just five matches, after ten that is a different matter.
“At the moment, after five games, where you are at could just be a coincidence of the fixtures, an accident of who you play and where,” Coppell told Sky Sports News.
“But after ten games you have a fair idea of where you sit, so this group of five games coming up is massive for most clubs.
“I think it is your positioning period, because after this batch of games you have another two weeks off and then you can assess where you are at.
“One win in five is not going to make or break but the batch of five certainly colours your interpretation of what kind of start you’ve had.”
Coppell is right, you can’t worry just yet but I think most would be a little more confident should Reading pick up three points, a point minimum against Sunderland this weekend.

Defeat to Sunderland would be a worry, but victory, or at least a point followed by positive results against Wigan and Derby and suddenly everything is bright again.
Coppell just needs to go back to the way he had you playing last season. If it aint broke, dont fix it! I know losing sidders was a bit of a blow, but to be honest, he wasnt the player that held you together – Harps was doing that most of last season. I’ve not seen Fae or Cisse play yet, but from what i’ve seen of Bikey, surely he’d be worth a shout in the middle of the park? Good luck aganist the Mackems boys!
