With great thanks to Vital Brighton editor Tom, we ask a few questions about his club and Boxing Day’s game……..

——————————————————————

1) What are your hopes and expectations for the season?

Mid table would be a huge achievement. Despite the new stadium our playing budget is by no means on a par with the big clubs in the league. After promotion last year consolidation in a tough league would be a wonderful achievement.

2) What are your strengths and weaknesses as a team?

Our strength is out hard work and playing the ‘right way’ our weakness of late has been creativity and our disciplinary record.

3) Who are the player/s to look out for?

Will Buckley looks superb every time he plays. He’s direct, quick and is arguably the best finisher at the club.

4) What’s your current opinion of Gus Poyet?

Yes he’s outspoken and has a lot to say but if you took that away from him, you would be taking away his greatest strength as well. As a club we are very lucky a manager of his calibre is committed to us for the long haul.

5) Why do you think your form has dipped since the start of the season?

It’s a tough league. Anyone can beat anyone, besides as mentioned above we are sitting in the top half of the table, so we are hardly struggling. We had a wave of momentum after our promotion but these things never last forever.

6) What’s your prediction for the game?

Offer me a draw and I’ll snap your hand off, however I think Readings home advantage may prove pivotal. That and Jobi McAnuff always scores against us!
