Vital Reading season preview

Manager: Oscar Garcia – The 40-year old Spaniard would be unknown to most in England, but would be more familiarly associated with Spanish football. Garcia had a reasonably successful playing career and opted to go into coaching, having roles at both Catalonia and Barcelona, before moving into management with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He won the Israeli league title, before resigning in May and joined Brighton last month. Garcia has also been tipped as a future Barcelona manager.

Key player: Liam Bridcutt – The Scottish international is linked with a move to the Premier League every transfer window these days and it is no surprise why. The central midfielder is renowned for his great passing range and composure on the ball, so I can imagine he will be a massive part of Garcia’s set up for the upcoming season.

Season Preview – Brighton would have been gutted with last seasons play-off heartbreak, after going into the play-offs with great momentum. However, Tony Bloom made a great move by appointing Garcia, a manager who has a similar philosophy of football to the departing Gus Poyet. The acquisition of Matt Upson and the impressive goal ratio of Leonardo Ulloa could be of great importance to the Seagulls being in the promotion race for the season.
