Dave Kitson was very pleased to get off the mark for the season, and although this didn’t help Reading, who slumped to another defeat he says the club will take heart from the Sunderland match.

It was pleasing to see Kitson score, and he has said that it was pleased but a third straight Premiership defeat for Reading is now a bit of a concern.

And Kitson is slightly worried about this and told readingfc.co.uk, “I really don’t know what’s happened, maybe teams are wised up to how we play and how to nullify our main threats.

“But, it kind of disintegrated for Sunderland in the second half and we were much the better team.

“We do look like scoring, we got one and could have had another with some half chances.

“I don’t like saying ‘we must take positives’ but the fact is that it’s still all within us. We just have to do it from the off.”

Reading desperately have to take points from the next two home matches against Derby and Wigan, four points would be a positive, but surely six points must be the aim.

I think Kitson might be right, teams have gotten wise to Reading, but it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom, but a couple more back-to-back defeats and it will be very worrying.

Wins over Wigan and Derby at home are crucial, but Pompey away in between will be a tough one!
