As we look forward to tomorrow’s game up in the Midlands, we take a look at the team news for both injury-hit sides.

All of Harry Redknapp’s new batch of loan players are expected to start, which are striker Sam Gallagher, plus Arsenal full-backs Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall. Gallagher’s introduction comes at a crucial time, with Che Adams out with a hamstring issue.

Forwards Isaac Vassell and Clayton Donaldson are both major doubts, as is fellow striker Lukas Jutkiewicz who has a calf issue. Redknapp opted to rest the midfield duo of Craig Gardner and Cheikh Ndoye in the cup, so are likely to return to the XI.

The recent and biggest injury blow is to John Swift, who has a hamstring injury that will keep him out for a month. Fellow midfielder Liam Kelly also came off injured against Preston, but only had a dead leg, so is expected to play after missing out in the cup midweek.

New summer signing Jon Dadi Bovardsson is still out injured with an ankle injury, but Roy Beerens should return after missing the Millwall game with personal problems. Jordan Obita and Callum Harriott are back in light training, so won’t be considered.

This on paper should be an interesting game.Reading can count themselves very unlucky not to now be playing in the Premiership,Birmingham on the other hand fortunate to be still in the Championship,if Redknapp had not have taken over for the final three games of last season winning two of them then Blackburn would still be in this league.
Birmingham have a much changed lineup however injuries have already kicked in impacting both teams,a very difficult match to guess at exactly where both sides are and what their prospects this season will be.
