Its been a hell of a long time, longer than I had initially thought, but we could be set to play rivals Swindon for the first time since Valentines day 2002 next season. That game finished 0-0, with winger Sammy Igoe seeing red for violent conduct.

The Robins beat Charlton on penalties in their play off semi final on Monday and will face Millwall next weekend for a place in the Championship.

There was heartbreak though for Royals legend Phil Parkinson, who’s Charlton side were beaten, and striker Dave Mooney who is on loan at the Valley. He scored in normal time but had already been replaced by another former Royal, Nicky Forster, by the time it went to spot kicks.

Talking of Royals play off connections, Kevin Dillon’s Aldershot will bid to overturn a goal deficit on Wednesday against Rotherham. The Shots included no fewer than 4 former Royals in their side on Saturdays for the first leg, whilst the Millers have youngster Abdullai Bell Baggie on loan, and he could also feature in the game to decided who travels to Wembley.
