I have done a statistical based analysis on our in form Striker, Nick Blackman.

Watching back his two performances against Wolves in September 2014 and Ipswich September 2015, I analysed the amount of touches, dribbles and chances created.

Against Wolves, Blackman took just 54 successful touches and 8 unsuccessful. This doesn’t sound too bad, but, against Ipswich when he stole the show, Blackman took 94 successful touches and 4 unsuccessful. This just shows how Nick has got on the ball a lot more, leading to his successes this season.

When analysing dribbles completed, I found out that Blackman made 9 more dribbles against Ipswich which again shows a massive turn in confidence, resulting in a better individual performance.

Finally was chances created. Nick got 2 assists in this game and created 3 other chances against Ipswich. Where as, against Wolves, Blackman failed to create a chance.

This is an incredible set of stats and shows us just why Blackman has improved this season. Confidence.

Steve Clarke deserves a lot of credit for this. He has noticed Blackmans talent and had a pep talk with him and has given the lad a chance to show. It’s certainly paid off.
