The senegalese centre half’s ban comes into immediate effect for the game against Wigan on saturday, after his unfortunate sending off against Aston Villa last night.

Fortunately he will only be unavailable for one game meaning the Royals squad will not be too thin on the ground for long.

Assistant manager Kevin Dillon has spoke of the clubs relief at the ban being for only one game, and revealed because of this the club would rather get on with it, than appeal the card and drag the whole situation out.

He told the official site, ‘We wont appeal. We could have but then they might have given him another two games. You have just got to take it on the chin.’

Dill did however reveal his disappointment with the decision and referee Lee Mason’s knee jerk reaction. ‘The reaction of the referee was disappointing. It was a penalty, fair enough, but the referee sprinted across. He couldn’t wait to get his card out.’
