Trialist Ibrahima Sonko has stated his determination to win a new contract with his former club, following his 3 year absence.

The Senegalese defender played 30 minutes in our 3-0 win over Northampton and Reading boss Brian McDermott spoke to the Reading FC official site about the defender.

McDermott said: ‘Sonko got a great ovation from the fans; we know him so well. He’s talked to me about doing well and winning games and he’s still got that desire.’

‘Superman’ received a fantastic reception from the away following at Sixfield’s and many fans have spoken about their pleasure at the possible return for the 30-year old.

Sonko himself spoke to the Reading Post and said: ‘It was nice to hear the fans call me Superman, but I would ask them to wait a bit before they can call me Superman again.’

He is looking to get his career back on track after an unsuccessful period at Stoke, followed by loans to Championship rivals Hull and Portsmouth.
