Centre-backs Sam Sodje and Alan Bennet look to be on their way out of Reading as both were left out of the 20-man squad that travels to Sweden today.

The Royals have got no less than 7 centre-backs on their books, and Sodje in particular has been told he can leave if he finds himself a new club.

Reading boss Steve Coppell said, ‘I have said to Sam (Sodje) at the moment, given the senior players we have here, he is down the list.

‘Just out of common sense I have senior players who I will give priority to in pre-season and I told him I would not be taking him to Sweden with us and perhaps, if he can find himself a deal elsewhere, it could be in his best interests.

‘I am not bombing him out, but I have just made him aware that if he stays then there are quite a few ahead of him.

‘Centre-half is probably my healthiest position.’

The Royals paid £350,000 for Sodje when he was signed Brentford in July 2006.

But the centre-back ahs made just seven appearances for the Royals and has spent time on loan at West Brom and Charlton.

The twenty man squad travelling to Sweden is as follows:
Mikkel Andersen
Kalifa Cisse
Bobby Convey
Kevin Doyle
Michael Duberry
Marcus Hahnemann
James Harper
James Henry
Stephen Hunt
Ivar Ingimarsson
Jimmy Kebe
Jem Karacan
Leroy Lita
Shane Long
Marek Matejovsky
Graeme Murty
Alex Pearce
Liam Rosenior
Nicky Shorey
Ibrahima Sonko
