It is that time, where the ridiculous is published in the newspapers. Next in line is Celtic hotshot Gary Hooper.
According to the Daily and Sunday Express, Nigel Adkins is keen to reunite with his former striker, who served him well at Scunthorpe. However, despite it being evident the two of them having a good relationship, they seem to forget that Hooper has made a name for himself on a European stage now.
Will he want to come to the Championship, when he could well be offered Premier League football? I highly doubt it. Adkins reportedly had two bids turned down for Hooper last season, when he was in charge of Southampton. Despite Anton’s deep pockets, I think he may be getting the same answer from Celtic.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t want him, but the likelihood of us signing him is relatively low, when Everton and Sunderland have previously pursued an interest in the forward. You can certainly argue that Hooper brings goals to the table, after scoring an impressive 31 goals in 51 games for the Scottish champions.
