Shorey For England!

It`s a chant very often heard echoing around the Madejski Stadium; the Reading left back was described by many last season as the best left back outside of the Premier League and now he is playing at the highest level some think its time that Shorey was given a call-up

But in true fashion of Steve Coppell`s Reading the player has played down talks of being given the international nod by Steve McClaren:

‘It’s nice when the fans acknowledge you’re doing well, it’s great,’ Shorey said.
‘But like the gaffer I’d rather not get too carried away with that.”

Coppell recently said that staying in the Premeirship would be a much greater achievement then last season`s Championship winning season and it something that Shorey seems to agree with.

“There are some great players around in England and this is our first season in the Premiership – all we’re worried about is staying in it.’

It has long been known at the Mad Stad that Shorey possesses a mean strike, he notched up a couple last season – one of them being a mean free kick in the 4-0 demolition of Norwich – but since his equaliser against Spurs on Sunday the rest of the world knows of his talented feet:

‘I may let a few fly now. I do get nagged a bit because I don’t have enough shots because I get into good position at times,’ he said after scoring his first of the season.”

Shorey`s brilliant long range effort levelled the match and gave Reading the confidence to go on and win the match in style, 3-1.

‘It was a massive result,’ he added. ‘If we lost we would have carried on our run, hopefully now we can carry on in the other direction.

‘We had some tough games in the fixture list but we’re looking to kick on.’
The win will boost the confidence of Reading endlessly who host the now managerless Charlton on Saturday, and Shorey could be looking to score again?
