Reading have been linked with potential deals for Sunderland’s Keiran Richardson and Fulham’s Andy Johnson.
The Daily Mail linked the Royals with the former Manchester United winger, who can also play at left back. The tabloid put the deal at a price of £2 million for the surplus to requirements player, who has struggled to maintain a regular place in Martin O’Neil’s side.
SkySports.com also linked Brian McDermott’s side with a potential move for former England striker Andy Johnson. His contract is set to run out at the end of the season and is not within Johnson’s interests to sign a new deal. QPR and West Ham are also reportedly chasing the forward, but his wage demands could be a barrier for the Royals.
New potential owner Anton Zingarevich and Reading manager Brian McDermott have already drawn up a shortlist of players to strengthen the squad during the summer. Rumours have circulated that they are looking to sign former players Shane Long and Gylfi Sigurdsson, but these are unconfirmed.

I’d go for Sigurdsson ion a flash. Quality player. Would be happy with him in the Spurs fold. As for Johnson, Definite no no. He’s passed it now. We need to look at better prospects.
Yeah, not too keen on Johnson. Richardson would be a useful player but Sigurdsson, different class.
Have always rated Richardson and his versatility means there that Harte and Jobi have some competition for a starting spot. Need to be smart in the market though. I know his madjesty has stated that the transfer policy won’t be any different now that the new owners have taken over, but it needs to be kept that way. Last thing Reading need is to overspend and ruin the structure that they have been built on. Investing in the infrastructure is the important thing, to guarantee that the books are balanced and the club can finance itself long into the future.
