An experienced Reading XI side saw off Exeter at Howgood yesterday afternoon, thanks to goals from Cedric Baseya and an unnamed tralist.

The side was full of experienced names with Andy Girrifin, Ian Harte, Jem Karacan and Brynjar Gunnarsson making a strong Royals ine up against Exter`s youthful side.

Ian Harte had a strong opening to the game, almost setting up Bignall half way through the half and came close minutes later with a typical 25-yard free kick which went narrowly wide.

The Royals pressure did soon pay off just before the break as 6’5 striker Cedric Baseya put Reading ahead with a fine finish past former Chelsea keeper Lenny Pidgeley.

However, the result was never in doubt when the lead was doubled on 20 minutes as a cross from left-back Harte was headed home by the unamed tralist.

Despite occasional pressure from the south-coast visitors, Alex McCarthy was hardly tested. Overall, it was a good run out from Eamonn Dolan’s side and Cedric Baseya getting on the score sheet again.

Reading: McCarthy, Griffin, Morrison, Hector, Harte, Trialist, Karacan, Gunnarsson, Obita, Bignall, Baseya
