A Stephen Hunt inspired display saw Reading move within four points of Wolves at the top of the Championship this evening.
Chris Armstrong scored his first goal for Reading in a first half controlled by Watford. Decent play from Rosenior and a clever assist from Stephen Hunt allowed Armstrong a volley at the near post to open the scoring. Watford looked good in possession but failed to create anything in the final 3rd.
Reading had a decent penalty appeal turned down after Harley was holding Kebe as the winger tried to force his second goal of the season.

The second half saw Reading score 2 goals in a 60 second spell as Watford seemed to fall apart. A smart finish from Noel Hunt after excellent work from his brother Stephen gave Reading a 2-0 lead. Good work again by Rosenior on the right allowed Doyle a simple finish after the Watford keeper was caught in two minds.

Watford had a penalty appeal waved away after the ball struck the hand of Cisse, however it was adjudged ‘ball to hand’ rather than a ‘hand ball’. Three goals to the good, Reading brought on Leroy Lita who in the 88th minute found himself in acres of space and coolly slotted past the helpless Watford keeper. Watford were restricted to long range efforts all game but had the greater possession and must take lots of positives from that. Watford’s on loan Jack Cork had an inspired game in the midfield and looks a very good prospect for the future.

  • URRRZZZ – Great win against a good Watford side. Reading allowed Watford the ball but the pace a clinical finishing of the side proved too good for Watford! Swansea (away) next which will be difficult then the 6 pointer against Wolves at home! Bring it on!

  • good win…..but the next two games will be the real test….and probably decide wether you can win the league or just get promoted …..

  • Swansea are decent at home this season and have adapted well to life in the Championship, however the biggest test will be against Wolves at home If we win that we gain ground on them and then it will be a head to head battle!
