Reading are preparing for their last pre-season friendly in the build up to the new NPower Championship season, against local rivals Swindon Town.

Paolo Di Canio’s side were relegated from League 1 last season and it is the first time they have faced the Royals since 2002, in a game which saw 3 red cards dished out.

Simon Church and Mikele Leigertwood are set to miss out through injury but Jimmy Kebe will return after being rested for Bristol Rovers.

Reading fans will also get to see new star signing Bongani Khumalo in action for the first time, with the defender expected to line up alongside Alex Pearce.

Royals boss Brian McDermott has promised fans that he will play his strongest XI against their M4 rivals, which should include Noel Hunt and Andy Griffin, who have both shaken off knocks.

Griffin spoke to the Reading Post and said: “With derby games you have to understand, like certain cup games, that there is that little bit more of an edge to it. It will be interesting, a bit of a battle and I`m looking forward to it.”

A good Royals following is expected and the game at the County ground will kick off at 3pm. All tickets are pay on the day, with it being £10 for adults and £5 for U16s and Over 60s.
