Reading are reportedly in talks to sign Nottingham Forest winger Gareth McCleary after the 24-year old is yet to sign a new contract with the Championship side. Wigan, Celtic and West Brom are also keen on McCleary who was voted Forest’s Player of the Season recently.

Defender Ian Harte and midfielder Brynjar Gunnarsson have been offered new deals with the Royals. However, the trio of Andy Griffin, Brian Howard and Tomasz Cywka have not had their contracts renewed and will leave the club next month.

Reading have confirmed that winger Jimmy Kebe has had surgery on his injured knee that kept him out of the final two games of the season against Birmingham and Crystal Palace. However similarly to Jem Karacan, both are widely expected to be fit for pre-season.

On-loan defender Matt Connolly has said that he would relish a permanent move to Reading, saying it ‘felt like home’. Rumours have been circulating that a fee of £900k has been submitted to QPR to sign Connolly, but Mark Hughes is keen to meet with the defender to speak about his future.
