Reading’s Jem Karacan has thwarted rumours linking with this his native Turkey, saying only wants to the play for the Royals.

The 24-year old always seems to be linked with a move to his native country of Turkey, with Galatasaray normally high on the list. Karacan has said he would like to make the move one day, but is very happy remaining at the Madejski Stadium for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to the Reading Post, when questioned about the speculation, Jem said: ‘It happens every year and I keep getting bugged about it. I’m a Reading player though. I signed a deal last summer and everyone wants to play in the best league in the world.’

‘It’s gutting to not have that next year. Reading is a Premier League club and we know we should be there and we will try our hardest to get back up. Anything can happen in the summer. I’m a Reading player and I will be as happy as ever if I’m still here.’

I have been critical of Jem in recent weeks, saying he hasn’t really recovered since his ankle injury, but Adkins seems to be developing him steadily. He always looked quite frantic on the ball, but Fulham proved how Jem can pass the ball comfortably when he puts his mind to it.
