Royals interested in Newcastle defender

Reading are interested in the services of Newcastle defender Danny Simpson.

The 25-year old is currently out of favour at St. James’ Park and if Alan Pardew was to complete the signing of French right-back Mathieu Debuchy, would push Simpson further down the pecking order. The former Manchester United defender turned down Newcastle’s offer of a new contract in May.

Former teammate and new Reading signing Danny Guthrie has sung the praises of Simpson, publicly admitting he would be a good acquisition for the Royals. Brian McDermott is keen to add full-backs to his squad in the summer window and there is no doubt Simpson would be a good signing, who possesses good pace and decent Premier League experience.
