Royals face Liverpool

Before 2005 a home tie with Liverpool in the FA cup would have been any Royals fans dream but after drawing the Reds in the third round of the competition this season, there was a little bit of disapointment among the Reading faithful.

Don’t get me wrong, a tie with one of the big four will always be welcome and a full house at the Madejski Stadium is sure to keep Mr Madejski and the clubs directors happy, but we have been there and done that!

Many Loyal Royals were hoping for a trip to Swindon (who face Fulham), Oxford (who will face Sunderland if they overcome a replay with Barrow) or Aldershot (who will play Wolves if they beat Tranmere in a replay at the Recreation ground).

The last time we met the Reds at the Mad Stad was in Deceber 2007 when goals from Stephen Hunt, Kevin Doyle and James Harper gave us a famous 3-1 win.

The full draw is here, and the ties will be played on Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd January, and there’s a good chance the game could be live on TV.
