Reading defender Michael Hector has signed a two-year professional deal at the Madejski Stadium.

The 19-year old has had two very successful loan spells since signing his scholarship terms in 2009, in the Irish League at Dundalk and with League Two side Barnet. Back in February, there was speculation that Norwich and West Ham were monitoring Hector’s situation, but this new contract has fended-off any potential interest.

Five other youngsters have signed professional deals with the Royals, them being Nick Arnold, Josh Webb, Matt Partridge, Charlie Losasso and Jon Henly. All six have been with the Reading academy for a number of years, with Losasso spending a season on loan at Salisbury City in the Conference South in the most recent campaign.
