Reading manager Brian McDermott has said a deal to sign Australia international Tom Rogic is on the cards, but a work permit could prevent his move.

The 20-year old has been linked with a move to the Madejski Stadium for the past couple of weeks, but it appears the move is drawing closer to completion. The fee for Rogic is set to be around £500,000 mark, who is currently playing his football in the Australian A League, for the Central Coast Mariners, who are also top of the league.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Brian said: ‘We`ve got to speak to Tom, he`s got to speak to us and we`ll see. If we do agree and he does come we`ve then got to get a work permit, which is not a ‘gimme`. We got turned down on appeal last time but if it goes that far again, we have good video coverage to give to the panel.’

A few videos have appeared on YouTube that showcases the talents that Tom posses’ and although it being a few minutes of highlights, its clear that the lad has talent. He stands at 6’2, making him a presence in an aerial sense and it appears he has a great range of passing and good technique to go with it.
