Nigel Adkins may not be regretting taking the Reading job after all, saying he was very pleased with his sides showing against Liverpool yesterday.

The Royals ended their eight-game losing streak after the stalemate with the Reds yesterday, where Adkins’ side showed plenty of fight and could have taken all three points. The performance of Alex McCarthy was also a massive factor in the result, with the boss paying tribute to his performance and those quotes will follow tomorrow morning.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Adkins said: ‘It was good all round, that’s three games we’ve been in charge and I think we’ve got better each time. The players have been working ever so hard, their attitude and application has been top drawer. There’s been a lot of good stuff and the boys have gone and produced today.’

‘So great credit to our players. It’s only a point though and we needed three. But it’s a clean sheet and another improvement. There was a good atmosphere and the supporters were great. They want to see good attacking football and winning football. What we’ve got to do is work hard, keep putting a shift it.’

Very valid words from the gaffer, I think he knows that we needed all three to have any hope of survival, but is heaping the positives. I also agree we are getting better by every game, a clean sheet and a draw against Liverpool speaks for itself. Would we have seen that performance under Brian? I don’t think so.
