John Oster returned from injury yesterday, playing in the reserves’ 2-0 win over Brighton.

Oster has been out of action with an ankle injury since November and his return will be a big boost to Reading, with the Royals previously being without a fit right winger.

Reading took the lead through youngster Oliver Bozanic before birthday boy Shane Long made it two with an excellent individual effort.

Oster was partenered in centre midfield by new Royals’ signing Marek Matejovsky, who played the full ninety.

Matejovsky who made his debut as an 80th minute substitute at home to Manchester United on Saturday, again looked very comfortable on the ball and could have had a couple of goals himself.

The return of Oster and the progress of Matejovsky is certainly encouraging for the Royals as they look to avoid being dragged into a relgation dogfight.

With no game this weekend, there is every chance that Oster will be fit to feature in the difficult trip to Stamford Bridge next Wednesday.
