Reading are close to completing a deal to sign Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin, according to Goal.com.

The football-based news website has reported that owner Anton Zingarevich is set to complete a deal with the Gunners, that will see the Russian captain move to the Madejski Stadium for around £4 million. Betting outlet Bet Victor have also slashed his odds for next club, with Reading favourites at a noticeable 4/6.

Arshavin has very much fallen out of favour at the Emirates, but the Berkshire side are set to give the 31-year old a second chance. His compatriot and good friend Pavel Pogrebnyak is also likely to play a crucial part in the potential deal, with the pair having already played with each other at Zenit St. Peterburg, who Zingarevich supports.

It has been rumoured for a couple of months, but if these reports are to be believed, this could be that piece of quality that we have been crying out for, for the past three months. A player of Arshavin’s quality is not be turned down, with the reported £4 million being an absolute steal in my opinion!
