A source close to Reading has revealed that Reading have held ‘talks’ with representatives of Roman Kienast who currently earns his trade in the Norweigan league.

Kienast who played in Euro 2008 for Austria is seen as a replacement for the outbound Kitson who is linked with both Fulham & Wigan.

Kienast, who came on as a sub against Germany is highly regarded as a young prospect in Austria and hails from a footballing family. His uncle Reinhard had scored twice the last time Austria beat Germany, in a 1986 friendly.

Just before the start of the 2006 season, Kienast came to the Norwegian club Hamarkameratene (Ham-Kam) on loan.

In the next season, Ham-Kam got promoted back to the Norwegian Premier League, with Kienast playing an integral part in the campaign by scoring 14 goals[2].

The discussions are thought to be at an early stage and it is thought that the deal would only go ahead should Kitson leave the Royals.
