A moment of magic from Hal Robson-Kanu gives Reading their first win in six. It was far from a classic against a horrible Rotherham side, that had five yellows in the first half, but a wins a win.

Brian made two changes to the heroic side that beat West Brom on Saturday, bringing in Kermorgant for Cox and Ola John for Rakels.

Chances were at a premium throughout the whole first half, but Kermorgant did miss a gilt edged opportunity as Robson-Kanu put in a peach of a cross, only for Yann to volley just wide.

Al-Habsi then had to make a save, diving to his right.

However, it really was a drab half of football with very little to talk about in terms of quality and excitement.

Neil Warnock clearly just set his side up to kick us off the park and break up any chance of exciting football we could play by blatant fouling.

The second half didn’t really improve although Kermorgant had another golden opportunity but headed well wide.

New signing Deniss Rakels was then introduced just after the hour mark and his first involvement was to cut the ball back to Kermorgant who cutely set it back for Kanu to curl home a lovely finish. 1-0 Reading.

Rakels continued to cause problems, however, he was caught offside on a number of occasions.

The game fizzled out with just 6 shots on target in the whole game and Reading recorded their first win in 6 and third clean sheet in a row at home in the Championship.

Brian is slowly starting to build something here and sometimes you do have to win ugly and that’s what we did on Tuesday.
