Blackburn striker Jason Roberts is currently having a medical at Reading, after both Blackburn and Reading have agreed a suitable fee for the striker, meaning it will be a permanent move.

The 34-year old has previously vented his frustration at the lack of first-team football at Ewood Park, sparking speculation to a move away, with Championship rivals Portsmouth also interested in the forward.

McDermott has admitted his interest in Roberts, believing the striker can add crucial experience to the Royals frontline that have been struggling for goals of recent.

This deal could finally put to the bed the rumours of Billy Sharp and Jordan Rhodes possibly coming to the Berkshire side. This could possibly mean a potential loan move away for Mathieu Manset, who has struggled with injury in recent weeks.
